University of Toronto Call for Proposals in Latin America and/or the Caribbean on Human Migration, and/or on Climate Change and Sustainability

U of T is launching a call for proposals in order to further support collaborative education and research initiatives with institutions in Latin America and/or the Caribbean. This call invites project proposals aligned with the following areas of research:

  • Human Migration
  • Climate Change and Sustainability

The call is intended to fund 3-5 projects for up to 1 year starting in June 2024. 

Funding:

  • Between 15,000 and 25,000 Canadian dollars.

Duration:  June 2024 – June 2025

Notice of Interest: February 05, 2024, 11:59pm EST

Application deadline: April 14, 2024, 11:59pm EST

Notification to successful applicants: May 27, 2024

Applications will be assessed by a joint committee of members.

Eligibility:

  • U of T faculty member must have a continuing appointment.
  • The home institution of faculty members outside U of T must be based in Latin America and/or the Caribbean.
  • The application must include a letter of engagement from the PI based in Latin America and/or the Caribbean, describing their planned involvement in the proposed project.
  • In order to be eligible for academic exchange, faculty members must have a continuing appointment at an institution based in Latin America and/or the Caribbean, or at U of T. Likewise, only students under the academic supervision of PI holding the funds will be eligible for student exchange.

Selection criteria:

  1. Research quality & originality of the project pertinent to Human Migration, and/or Climate Change and Sustainability
  2. Proposals led my Early Career Researchers are encouraged and will be given preference
  3. Synergy, and equal partnership amongst all members
  4. Capacity for future collaboration. Proposals that demonstrate additional committed funding, including from the non-U of T PI, and/or other funding source are encouraged.

Faculty are encouraged to review U of T’s safeguarding research resources when developing their proposals.
